Ever wondered what the J-Class Submarines look like? Do you want to try night diving? Are you interested in seeing the newly scuttled EX-HMAS Canberra shipwreck? Or perhaps you'd just like to become more familiar with some of the critters you see regularly on dives. Then the PADI Advanced course is ideal for you!  It's a great continuation from the PADI Open Water course and allows you to continue building on your diving skills under the direct supervision of a PADI professional. In addition, the PADI Advanced course is also ideal for those divers who may be wanting to brush up on their skills and get back into the water after a short break.


The course is run over one weekend of action packed diving! Commencing with a brief introductory theory and review session on the Saturday morning student's progress through 2 days featuring 5 exciting Adventure dives. This course is also perfect for increasing your confidence and experience in the water and is frequently referred to as one of the most enjoyable courses available.

Students will complete two core dives and three specialty dives on the course. The two core dives conducted are Underwater Navigation and Deep diving to 30 meters. The 3 specialty dives are selected from the very extensive PADI specialty list including: Night Diver, Boat Diver, Cavern Diver, Drift Diver, Drysuit Diver, Equipment Specialist, Multilevel Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Research Diver,  Search and Recovery Diver, Underwater Hunter, Underwater Naturalist,  Underwater Digital Photographer, Wreck Diver, Underwater Videographer, Project  AWARE-Fish Identification and many more.

$799 (Scuba Gear, Wetsuit & Tanks are NOT included. These can be hired $150 for the weekend)

Equipment Requirements:

Students are required to own their own Mask, Snorkel, Fins and Booties as these items are not supplied as part of your course fees. We call these comfort items and it is in your best interests to be comfortable whilst scuba training. We also recommend that if you are hiring your equipment from us for the weekend that you purchase your own regulator silicone mouthpiece for hygiene reasons. In addition to this Advanced Students are also required to own their own SMB (Safety Sausage) & Reel, dive Torch, dive Slate and Chemical Light Stick for the night dive. We strongly recommend that you buy this equipment from Geelong Dive Centre to ensure that you are purchasing quality equipment. For your safety, we require that all students provide a current Diving Medical Certificate that was completed within the last 2 years prior to starting this dive course. The Dive Medical can be easily completed by your regular GP Doctor. If you don't have a regular GP you can also follow the link to find a full list of SPUMS Accredited Dive Doctors closest to you:


When you go to see the Doctor make sure that you remember to take a copy of the PADI Scuba Dive Medical Certificate form with you, as your Doctor may not have spare copies of the form available. This form will be completed by the Doctor. For your convenience you can find a copy of the PADI Dive Medical below:


The Dive Medical will confirm that you're fit to dive and continue your scuba training. It will also help you to identify if you have any pre-existing medical or health conditions that could exclude you from scuba diving.

Minimum age for participation in our Scuba programs is 15 years of age. Students under the age of 18 years are required to have a parent or legal guardian accompany them on the course.

When you come to class Students will need the following:

  • A current Dive Medical issued within the last two years of course starting date.
  • Print Out of eLearning Certificate - available online after your eLearning completion.
  • 2 x Passport Photos required for your PADI certification.
  • An underwater Dive Compass.
  • Minimum of 1 x Dive Light for the night dive (2 is strongly recommended in case of primary failure).
  • 1 x Chemical Light Stick for the night dive.
  • A notebook and pen.
  • Your own Mask, Snorkel, Fins and Booties.
  • Your own Scuba Equipment (Scuba Equipment can be hired if you still don't own it $150).
  • Bathers and Towel, Sunscreen, Hat and a change of Warm Clothes.
  • It is also a good idea to bring a packed Lunch and Water for the day.
  • BUT most of all prepare yourself for a lot of FUN!

Please note: Students attending class without the above Prerequisites will NOT be able to begin their training on that day. You will be required to re-schedule to another course at a later date. In addition, you will be charged a fee of $150 to cover course Cancellation and Re-scheduling costs.

A $150 deposit secures your place on the course and we will then email you your eLearning Access Pass. The full course balance is payable on the first day of your dive course. If you have already completed your PADI eLearning then this cost is removed from the course fee. Candidates must complete ALL the eLearning theory online before attending the first day of the course. If you have booked onto your course and choose to change your original date of commencement there will be a $150 Transfer Fee applicable each time a course date is changed. If you require additional days to complete the course for whatever reason, $200 for each additional day required will be charged plus any additional boat fees if required.

N.B. Weather: If it is necessary for us to alter the course schedule due to inclement weather conditions there are no additional fees.
