PADI Enriched Air (NITROX)

Often when you're diving you will find times that you will really want to stay a bit longer. It might be to continue exploring an amazing wreck dive like our recently scuttled Ex-HMAS Canberra Guided Missile Frigate, or it could be to take in the beauty of a special reef that has Manta Rays at 30 metres. So providing you still have air in your tank you won't want to come up to soon!

Enriched Air, commonly referred to as Nitrox, is a blend of pure Oxygen and Nitrogen that has a higher percentage of Oxygen than normal Air. This extra Oxygen means that you won't absorb Nitrogen as quickly at depth, meaning that you can extend your no-decompression times underwater.

Nitrox gases are highly sort out by both recreational and technical divers and are now used in many areas. In fact the PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI's most popular specialty scuba diving course and it's easy to see why as most live-aboard dive boats offer Nitrox facilities, meaning people doing multiple dives over multiple days are absorbing less nitrogen. In addition it is also used in pony bottles in Victoria when deep diving. Nowadays most places you go to you are likely to find Nitrox air fill facilities available, so this certification is useful all over the world.
